Large Bamboo Fargesia Robusta Campbell -  3 Size Options 10 Litre, 18 Litre and 25 Litre Litre Pots. Robusta Campbell is a tall upright Fargesia, reaching heights in the uk of 4 metres plus. It is more tolerant to a wide variety of conditions than the other Fargesia varieties, it can withstand wind, sun, shade and even drought to a certain extent, so is a perfect choice for pretty much any type of garden you have. Due to its very upright structure along with being used as a stand alone specimen or container planting, it is an excellent choice to create a hedge or screening, If you are planning a hedge they should be planted at intervals of approximately 1.5 to 2 metres.

Because the Robusta Campbell is so winter hardy and tolerant of cold, it is one of the first Bamboo to break soil heralding the new growth season (and hopefully the end of of Winter! ) in milder parts of the country or after mild winters this can be as early as late January. The new shoots initially have tightly overlapping culm sheaths which are deep burgundy.  At the margins they are covered in tiny brown hairs as they continue to grow and reach 50 cm or so green culms are exposed and the sheath colour fades to a creamy white creating a checker like pattern. By late May to early June the earliest culms will have reached full height, on average these will be approximately 60cm higher than the original plant. It is a bamboo that can be easily pruned to restrict size, if a narrow upright screen is the desired effect you can cut of the top 30 cm , that weeps around the perimeter without the weight of the upper foliage the culms will soon become upright again, it can also be cut to ground level if you would like to reduce the overall width.
