Bamboo Phyllostachys Aurea 250/275cm 30 Litre:  Phyllostachys Aurea, often referred to as Golden Bamboo, (although stems first appear green and only mature to gold with age) or fish pole Bamboo. Aurea is a remarkable and versatile species of bamboo that is highly valued for its aesthetic appeal and various practical uses.

Phyllostachys Aurea is a tall and vigorous Bamboo species that can reach heights of up to 10 metres in favourable conditions, but more realistically a height of 6 should be expected. It features thick, sturdy culms (stems) that age to characteristic golden-yellow colour, hence the name "Golden Bamboo." The culms are generally smooth and glossy, adding a touch of elegance to its appearance.

The foliage of Phyllostachys Aurea is equally impressive. The leaves are slender and lance-shaped, creating a delicate and graceful effect. The vibrant green colour of the leaves contrasts beautifully with the golden culms, enhancing the overall visual appeal of the plant.

One of the notable features of Phyllostachys Aurea is its versatility. It can be used in various landscaping applications, including privacy screens, hedges, windbreaks, and ornamental plantings. The dense growth habit of this bamboo species provides excellent screening and can create a sense of seclusion in outdoor spaces.

Phyllostachys Aurea is often referred classed as a clumping Bamboo, in our own opinion it lies somewhere between a clumper and a runner so a well behaved runner, which won't get out of control.

In terms of care Aurea is relatively low-maintenance once established. It is adaptable to different soil types, including clay and sandy soils, and can tolerate both full sun and partial shade. Regular watering is essential especially during the establishment phase, but once established, it can withstand periods of drought.
